Client Brief

Yarra Ranges Special Development School wanted to equip its film and recording studio with professional-grade technology that would be easy for staff and students to operate. The space included a projection lounge viewing area, a control room, and a recording booth. The goal was to provide seamless integration between these spaces, enable effective communication, and deliver high-quality sound and visuals for both learning and creative projects.

Our Assessment

The studio required:

  • Centralised control for multiple devices and functions.

  • Flexible audio routing between the control room, recording booth, and lounge area.

  • Two-way communication between staff in the control room and performers in the booth.

  • Professional-quality audio and video while remaining simple enough for day-to-day use by educators.

The Solution

Hypervisuals designed and installed a fully integrated AV system featuring:

  • RTI automation to control all studio equipment from a single interface.

  • Xilica DSP for precise audio routing, mixing, and level adjustments across all areas.

  • RTI wall controller and RTI Panel software on the desktop PC for intuitive, flexible control options.

  • Australian Monitor amplifiers and speakers for clean, reliable sound reproduction.

  • Intercom system to enable real-time communication between the control room and performers in the recording booth.

The Result

The new system allows Yarra Ranges Special Development School to effortlessly manage complex recording sessions and film projects. Staff can control every aspect of the studio — from projection in the lounge to audio levels in the booth — from one streamlined interface. The intercom function ensures clear communication, and the professional-grade equipment delivers outstanding audio-visual quality, empowering both educators and students to produce creative, high-impact content.
